Almost Time Again – Sabinal Wild Hog Festival
February 7, 2013
I had such a blast at this event last year, I’m really looking forward to seeing the Sabinal Wild Hog Festival roll around again at the end of March.
I know, Sabinal, TX is way out of the way for most of you folks who read this blog, but if you happened to be planning an exotics and/or a hog hunt this spring, March is a great time to be in the Hill Country and this would be an excellent diversion during a hunting trip. And if you’re really feeling froggy, you can sign up for the hog catching contest.

Well, I guess it’s time to update this bio just a touch since I’ve now evacuated California and made a new home down in the Texas Hill Country (the southern part, not the fancy part). Besides that, most of the info here is still accurate.
It is still one of my life goals to get a bunch of IT guys from Silicon Valley into the ring for some hog chasing and bagging. Would make an epic movie, kind of a ‘Revenge of the Nerds’ meets ‘Hoosiers’ crossed with American Hoggers. In the end, the nerds obviously win dramatically, but bring valuable life lessons back to their cubes. I can always dream.
On a more serious note, I wonder how many of those folks get a pig incisor jabbed into them. Guess they keep the toothy ones out, but still, then can nip hard with those front teeth!
I think you need to get in the ring, Phillip. Have 3 beers and give the vide camera to Kat. We’re all waiting….
Ian, you can do it… just need to time the event with the last weekend of March!
And as far as jumping into the ring, it’s a team game. I’d need someone down here to partner up with. Got any travel plans?
As long as TSA is ok with me wearing a full suit of medieval armor…
I’m not quite sure what the rule is there, Ian, although I expect that would create a minor stir as you pass through the metal detector.
